MUIR, aka "Crater Lake" Eagle Cap Wilderness
Names, I think, are the first poetry of place. Something you'd want to pass on to your children's children. I call this little blue jewel of an alpine lake, MUIR LAKE, honoring the patron saint of backpacker and wilderness, John MUIR. "CRATER," okay. But, well, there's already a Crater Lake, and this one's just as unique, just as beautiful, so I think it deserves a better name.
